Theros Spoiler 8-30

~
Happy Friday MTG peeps,

As it is Friday, why not take some time out and head on down to your local gaming store.  It also happens to be the Labor Day long weekend here in North America so if you're heading out camping or the cottage, don't forget to bring your cards along.  We'll be off to OMG! Games again here in Barrie, Ontario and this long weekend and we are still expecting a good turn-out long weekend or not as a lot of the students are returning to Georgian College.

Anywhoos - some more Magic: the Gathering news again today - more specifically, more Theros goodness.  This Greek mythology themed plane is where gods, heroes, and monsters are an everyday fact of life. Hydras, gorgons, satyrs, and other creatures of myth inhabit this wild, mystical place.  One piece of news out today is that it is expected that the Theros PreRelease Promos are to be the Intro Pack rares.  Not that surprising as this mirrors what we saw with Return to Ravnica.

Depending upon which color you select at the Theros PreRelease, you'll receive five Theros booster packs, and then a seeded PreRelease Pack which will include your PreRelease promo.  the PreRlease promos are thought to be the following Theros 'Intro Pack' rares (Celestial Archon, Shipbreaker Kraken, Abhorrent Overlord, Ember Swallower, or Anthousa, Setessan Hero) based upon what we can see from this image below on the mothersite.

~
Next up - there is now another page up on the mothersite detailing the 'Heroes Path' during the Theros block events as well as the usual Mini Site for Theros which is published with each new Magic: the Gathering set.  We've added the set logos in the arts for our own reference to help organise our speculations.  Let's have a looky loo at some of the new arts -

This very cool Theros art appears to be a human warrior and a Triton / Merfolk.

~
In this panel, we se arts which may see print in the very next set, Born of the Gods.  If we had to guess, the first one may be the god Ephara (bestower of magic), some rather upset Minotaurs, and perhaps the god Xenagos (the Reveler).

~
Lastly, a very interesting image possibly from the last set in the block, Journey into Nyx.  The big fella may be Mogis, the black-red aligned god with what looks to be the Planeswalker Elspeth (expected) and Ajani (totally unexpected).

~
Have a great weekend and be sure to tune into the official Theros previews expected at PAX prime.

A New Blog For Me = MAJOR CRUSHING

I was so happy to find some of my most favourite blogging friends chosen for  the Top 25 Home Decor Blogs on The Vivant...

....definitely a list worth perusing if you're looking for some fabulous decor related blog goodness!!!

While flipping through the winners, I landed on a new discovery...47 Park Avenue...

47 Park Avenue

...owner/writer/editor Michael is officially my new boy crush.

And here's why...

I mean come on.

The black room with pink sofa....

The bathroom with those incredible mirrors, apothecary goodness and beat of a display cabinet....and holy Mother Mary, don't get me started on the chandelier suspended from the dressing wrack...if imitation is flattery, Monsieur Michael should prepare to see his work copy dopied by this missy come dream home time.

And then there's the dressing room...you know how I love an antique etagere filled with shoes...I have plans to take the chinoiserie one in my living room and make that sort of thing happen for Ms Scarlett in her bathroom.

Of course, there's also the overall palate here...you all know I'm a mega fan of black and white and this dude's used it all perfectly.

Oh and I very much appreciate his love for vintage lighting- me and him are defs on the same floating device with that one.  Same goes with the fur stool yumminess...heart much.

Apparently Micheal has an online store in the works with this sort of glory happening....

...and I'm much looking forward...me and that neon sign need to  make out.

And not that I'm surprised at all by this but turns out that Sir Micheal is the owner of Shoot Factory...I've long been a fan of this website which features shoot locations across the world...some major decor inspo there folks.  I wrote about it in this post ions ago (note my early blogging tiny photos and such;)

All in all, you can definitely consider me a new 47 Park Avenue super fan...following with big bazookas on.

Theros Rumors

~
Happy Thursday MTG peeps,

Most Magic: the Gathering fans will be turning their attention to this weekend's events, all part of the PAX Prime event in Seattle.  Wizards of the Coast will be holding the  Theros Preview Party Saturday evening at the Showbox at the Market venue and then the Theros World Building Panel on Sunday.  Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we should review a handful of interesting Theros spoilers / rumors surfacing within the last few days.  We again advise you to treat these as rumors only and only rely upon official previews on the mothersite.

First up - Thassa, confirmed to the blue-aligned god in the Planeswalker guide to Theros had its rumored text leaked onto the forum.  As the gamer community evaluated whether it was real or fake, Twitter user '@tropicalsteve' fired off a question to Matt Tabak, the WotC MTG rules guru.  What happened next was rather interesting, Matt provided rules clarification all but confirming the card's existance.  We sort of feel badly for good-guy Matt as he works on cards that won't see print for a year or two to come which just lends potential confusion as to what cards may be in the open and which ones have not been previewed yet.  The conversation was subsequently deleted which gives us more reason to believe the following (perhaps with minor re-wording) may be the real deal . . .

Thassa, God of the Sea, 2u
Legendary Enchantment Creature, God Mythic Rare
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to blue is less than five, Thassa isn’t a creature. (Each u in the mana costs of permanents you control adds to your devotion to blue.)
At the beginning of your upkeep, scry 1.
1u: Target creature you control can’t be blocked this turn.
5/5

CARD IMAGE IS MOCK-UP !
~
EDIT - afternoon update -

Somewhat similar situation to Matt's above had just occurred with MaRo himself when greekos576 asked him about Bident of Thassa on Tumblr . . .
Dang - the WotC folks need a break.

Next up - a series of interesting forum posts by member Trollcreature, all of which was largely ignored until the second installment of the Theros Planeswalker Guide.  A measured level of credibility is now granted and previous posts now carefully considered.  Again, only rumors here but here are some of the claims . . .

Futureshifted allied-color-lands cycle may get a reprint in Theros.  These are Rare lands that are able to add two colors of mana to their controller's mana pool — Graven Cairns, Grove of the Burnwillows, Horizon Canopy, Nimbus Maze, and River of Tears.

Also - the following is now up for serious consideration based upon Trollcreature's posts -

Medomai the Ageless, 4UW
Legendary Creature — Sphinx
Flying
Whenever Medomai the Ageless deals combat damage to a player, take an extra turn after this one.
Medomai the Ageless can't attack during extra turns*.
*This is the guessed text

Chained to the Rocks, W
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant _____ you control
When Chained to the Rocks enters the battlefield, exile target creature an opponent controls until Chained to the Rocks leaves the battlefield.
(That creature returns under its owner’s control.)

That's a wrap for now, check on back again as we head into the weekend.

This Is Scarlett and Isaiah

I shared the news about my daughter's TV show back in April with this post.

Well, I've got some updates on that front and if you'd let me be the annoying braggy mom for a few minutes, I'd love to fill you in:)

We spent this past Tuesday at the show's official launch party and well, it was literally one of the most exciting 2 hours of this little family's life.

For one, we got to watch a completed episode in giant form thanks to a gorgeous screening room and front row seats...

{Scarlett and her co-host Isaiah, along with his sweet little sister in the middle}

{My dad and Malcolm soaking up the show- so, so grateful that my parents were able to fly in from PEI to attend!}

...honestly, I could have sat in that seat all day and watched it over and over...I was quite literally overcome with emotion while the tape was rolling.  To see my daughter almost frozen in time at the age of 6, being that version of herself (that PS, has already changed) with the lispy voice, missing teeth, quirky smile, hilariously dramatic facial expressions, last remnants of baby pudge etc...well, it was beyond special to say the least.

My favourite part was when they showcased her audition tapes, which of course we hadn't seen until then.

It was incredible to see my own child through someone else's eyes.

Though we all know our kids are amazing and feel proud at every moment, something about seeing my Scarlett up there just really made me recognize what makes her such a special little kid...the dramatic quirks and intensity in which she views life may be what sometimes drive me crazy but it's also precisely what makes her so perfectly her...I absolutely adore the creature she is and is becoming.

I apologize if this sound ridiculously braggy but really, I found her totally captivating to watch...in part because like all kids of that age, she's hilariously funny...For example, when asked if she liked to get dirty, her response after careful consideration, was "well...only when I'm naked."  Too good.

While in the screening room, we also got to watch her co-host Isaiah's episode, which was such a joy...what struck me most about her counterpart was how smart and inquisitive he is...the kid loves to ask questions  and figure things out...he's the perfect 'This Is' host as it were...

Together, and with the help of the show's amazing team at Sinking Ship/Marblemedia...

... I really believe they've made some hilariously delightful kid TV, that will carry on the torch originally lit by 'This is Daniel Cook' and 'This is Emily Yeung'.

The show will be airing on Treehouse, with the first episode debuting on September 21st so mark your calendars if you have littles:)))

For now, I'd love it if you could like the show's Facebook page...

...and follow on Twitter...

...watch the trailer on their official website...

...and if you'd like to see their interview (along with the show's original cast Daniel Cook and Emily Yeung who are PS, just as adorable as teenagers) with the Canadian Press, link over to that HERE.

There's also this article written by CP, that can be viewed in a number of publications...

...click HERE for one version of that.

Thank you for  letting me indulge in this a little..I'm so ridiculously proud of my little red and I figure at such times, it's a mamma's prerogative to blast the news...couldn't help but use up a post to document this incredible time.

I promise to be back with decorating and the like tomorrow:)))
