Weekend Finds and a Change of Plans

Hello friends.

I hope you all had a bueno weekend.

Mine was busy but swell...mostly because I did a lot of sourcing/shopping and well...some REAL goodies were landed upon.

First, after hitting one of my favourite local antique haunts and taking a few pictures of vanity options for my Little Miss client, I turned the corner on my way out and spied some gold and pink hiding from behind a bed frame...upon closer inspection, this piece of total Bijou heaven was unveiled...

...and my knees proceeded to buckle.

It literally is the prettiest piece of furniture I've ever laid eyes on...and the best part, it's a kid-height wardrobe full of shelves on one side and an open section on the other...perfection for my Scarlett's new room since it's technically not a bedroom and has no closet...this thing HAS to be mine...seriously.

Now...since I have no option but to purchase this...really, I can't not...some of my other plans have to change.

For one, Orangie is out...I just can't do two budget benders in one room so, I spent the weekend looking for alternatives.

After showing the 6 year old endless options the only one she admitted to liking as much as fair Orangie, turns out to be one of my long time faves...

...Petal Pusher.

I'm happy with the choice, though I was really trying to sell her on this Flavor Paper...

You win some you loose some...the gold works better with all the pink furniture anyway so it's all good.

So...Now...this wallpaper change sort of makes my original multi-coloured/eclectic dressing room idea fly out the window.

Instead, I'm going to make the place more in keeping with the rest of the house...aka...pink, gold and black.

This is the new plan...

It involves:

1. Petal Pusher on the walls
2. White silk curtains with black ball fringe
3. Her existing bed, which in my perfect world I'd change but so it goes
4. The IKEA malm console that I re-did for the One of a Kind Show...it will go at the foot of her bed...this glorious pink moire chair...

...will sit behind it...and PS, that chair is going to be mine thanks to the amazing new store that the fabulously talented ladies over at 219 are opening...if you haven't checked out their preview of what's to come, you are missing out my friends and must get on it immediately...SO MUCH GOODNESS!!!!
5. The wardrobe bliss will go on the one full height wall beside the door
6. Two new modern/acrylic side tables...have to find these for next to nothing so if anyone has any ideas on that front, I'm all ears
7. The pair of figural lamps I bought last year will stay...LOVE them
8. I just stumbled upon this pink sofa heaven on Craigslist...

...and you'll be mad if I tell you how cheap it is so I won't...hopefully the dude emails me back quickly and tells me it's still for available- cross fingers please
9. A vintage Moroccan wedding blanket...though I really want one of these for my own room so we'll see
10. A Venini chandelier because every room needs one
11. A few open gold dressing racks
12. The West Elm Souk rug that I've been wanting forever...well, S gets it and we brought it home yesterday since there was a 15% of sale happening...

...and PS, if you're considering this rug for your very own, let me just tell you that it's even better in person...so fluffy and soft...love, love, love.

So that's it for that.

I'm hoping to have the room done within the next month so stay tuned...I promise after pictures:)

Moving on.

As part of my Little Miss sourcing, I ventured downtown to my favourite chandelier guy and found quite a few great options for her room...pictures of those finds will be coming on Wednesday when I update the project...for now, I'll show you the piece I found for myself...hello flush mount gorgeous that will be absolutely perfect in my foyer...

It totally reminds me of my dream flusher, the Trillion, only it's vintage (aka one of a kind) and WAY cheaper...win.

There's honestly nothing I love more than finding gems like the ones I discovered this weekend...I'd give my limbs to own a real store and do this sort of thing for a living...and make millions at it.

Oh the fun I'd have....

Weekend, News and a Bijou Board

Good day everyone.

I trust you enjoyed a beuno long weekend.

Mine was swell...we took the big kid to university, which was both joyous and poopsticks all at the same time...

...the red head was particularly not pleased with her sister's new living arrangements...

...the little one threw me over the edge on the way home when she said...and I quote..."Mommy, first Lola and now Tasha...our family is falling apart".

SAD MOMMY FACE.

Anyhoo...we got the big girl all settled in to her new room and I couldn't be prouder of her...the house is feeling mighty empty without her though:(

Aside from the move in, I spent the rest of the weekend on my DIY project and I have to say, it turned out exactly as I had envisioned..here's a little peakski of what I got up to...

...the bad news is that I put the finished number in my foyer to take pictures of it and well, it's sort of meant for the spot under my desk...I very much wish I could keep the damn thing...feeling like I might now be on a search for something I can make into its twin....will keep you posted on that front and promise shots of this little lady in a few weeks.

And now, I thought I'd share my big news.

You might have noticed that I've been visiting you all a little less these past few months...well, there's a reason...I've been sick...but not bad sick...

This sort of sick...

...yuppers....a new little love bug will be joining our family in March and we couldn't be happier:))))))))

I'm 3 months along now and starting to feel more like myself but 'tis been a haaaard few months.

You might remember that I took some time off at about this time last year...well the reason for that was a miscarriage...it was devastating and awful and something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy...we got through it though and knew we desperately wanted another baby so after a few months, we started trying again....the very crappy thing about miscarriage is that it sort of ruins the naive joy that comes with early pregnancy...I've been a nervous wreck this time around...and...well, it hasn't been easy.

We found about at about 7 weeks that I was actually carrying twins...probably the reason why I'd literally been in bed most of the day for weeks on end...of course, this sort of news came as a total shock but felt like such an incredible gift...sadly, a week later we found out that Baby B didn't make it...I've since learned that this is really common...apparently, 1 in 8 people walking around actually started out as a twin...crazy beans.

So...we're here now and happily pregnant with one sweet baby...and thankfully, I'm starting to feel more like myself...the total exhaustion is beginning to subside and my desire to do anything but sleep is returning...this is PS, the reason why Wink of Pink has sort of been at a standstill...the smell of paint has been more than a little disgusting up until now so I promise I'll rev stuff back into high gear soon.

So...that's the news.

Happy, happy, happy.

It seems as though our crappy stretch is taking a turn for the better...we had more great news this past week...hubster GOT A JOB!!!

Aside from the obvious perks like health insurance and paid bills etc...this most importantly means that...

Project Nursery can roll into gear:)

Scarlett's moving into the big room over the garage and her old room will be for bambino.

If it's a girl...which I sort of feel like it is...this will happen...

...I can't WAIT to get started.

And hope you'll all follow along as I nag you with baby decorating questions:)

Thank you all in the meantime for still visiting these past few months despite my total lack of blogging support...I cross my heart that that I'll be popping by to catch up on all that I've missed.

Love you cyber buddies.

Veronica's New Home Spurs a #getintomyhouse Room

I opened my email a couple of days ago to see this...

...and in case you don't recognize what I'm trying to show you...that's my Veronica all gorgeous like in its new owner's home.

Could I die over the fact that its right beside my favourite lamp of all time?

Also, can we talk about this...

...holy mother farking bed.

I'm dead.

My painting is SO lucky...it's in the prettiest room of all time!!!

Winning.

I actually emailed Amy (the owner/creator of this heavenly room) just to ask her about that bed...apparently it's from Hooker and very reasonably priced...I looked it up and voila...

...love x a lot.

Can we picture it in soft pink linen for a second?

Or vibrant yellow for that matter.

Gah.

Want.

I'm dreaming of a room with that bed in yellow, pink walls and all of this (PS...please excuse the crappy old school board- I'm using my hubsters computer because I need a new charge cord and well, he's got some primative Powerpoint that doesn't allow me to remove backgrounds)...

The incredible artwork on the left from Paule Marrot can be purchased through my sponsor,
Black Rooster Decor...and PS, you have the option to frame/in case in thick lucite...SO GOOD.

The other gorge art on the right is from another sponsor, Kerry Steele...hold on to your hats because that original 12x12 painting comes ringing in at a mere $25 bones...you're welcome.

You'll have to hire me if you want to source the rest of that goodness;)

Later love beans.

Get into my....

Hey there yummer lovers.

I'm happy to be introducing a new series here on B&B called 'Get into my....'

Basically, I'm going to show you things I want and how I'd put them together to make a little room pretty...also, I'm hoping some of you talented peeps out there will want to take part and give me a little guest post action...you game?  Hope so.

First up...some loveliness brought to you by the Dering Hall...aka...decor heaven.

My wish list...

...god I want those pink and black lamps- they ring it at a reasonable $650 and if the whole unemployment thing wasn't going on, they'd so be mine...same goes for the coffee table...sadly, the entrance rock like gorgeousity is out of bounds for this cat, even when hubster is working.

Moving on...a foyer...

...and a living room...

Could you die for the Gary McBournie wallpaper? I could.

Also, the green chairs and brass console really should be mine...perhaps one of my dear clients will indulge me and buy up some of this pretty...or allow me to make either of the plans above happen...that might satisfy the lust factory building in my brain...maybe.

Everything you see, with the exception of the rugs, sconces and artwork, is available at Dering Hall.

So what do you think?  Would you add any of these pretties to your lust list?

A Bijou Room - Inspired by Willow and an Ensemble

Morning folks.

Today, I've got a little mood board action for you...brought to you by an outfit that caught my attention and one of my Wink of Pink favourites, Willow...the painting, outfit and room all sort of scream soft tone on tone pretty...of the blushy cream variety.

The inspiration....

...and the room...

Tres bon.

If you'd like some Bijou board action for your own house, email me.

Also, Willow is for sale HERE.

And with that double whammy (PS, for those of you older than 30, remember that game show with the no whammies?  Just writing the word totally made my tangent brain leap off into memories the host screaming
'no whammies, no whammies' - ha) of self-promotion, I'll say toodles for now.

Cyber love,

A Bijou Room- A Dressing Delight

Well hello.

I've got to move fast this morning...my little red has a gig in the city, which means yours truly has to get her bumb in gear waaaay earlier than I generally like to.

In any case.

I'm waking up today feeling good...don't want to jinx things but despite being unable to breathe at all through my nose...I dare say I'm feeling better/more like myself.

And...more importantly...I'm so so so so so happy to tell you that we got some great news about my dear Nana yesterday...although her cancer isn't curable, the oncologist really wants to do a few rounds of radiation, which he says will significantly reduce her tumour, with very little side effect...which means....way more time for us to spend together...since this her 3rd bought with cancer (and all have been unrelated/different,) and because she's almost 90, we thought treatment was probably unlikely...to hear this news...well...it's just more than we could hope for...and do you know what? I wouldn't be at all surprised if she her tumour disappeared after the few rounds...my Nana's last cancer was stage  4/terminal and guess what...that was 15 years ago...it never came back...so...if anyone can beat this stupid fucking tumour...it's her.

So...I guess it's a very good morning to wake up to.

I feel blessed and happy and so so thankful.

And do you know that does?

Well it makes me feel like being creative again, which in these parts equates to mood board fun.

God I love doing these things.

Like rock skipping, they're good for my soulski.

For today's Bijou pretty, I've decided to put together the dressing room of my dreams.

If I had an extra room to spare and a cool $40k to spend, I'd SO be making this happen....

I've long been obsessed with that cheetah wallpaper and am thrilled to see that even little old me can now buy it directly from Furbish...I have no idea where it's going to go in my real life, but that paper WILL be mine...I mean really...have you ever seen a paper more perfectly suited to moi?  I didn't think so.

I adore the idea of having a whole room just for me...such luxury.

I'd make it a combined dressing room/office and would have open brass racks all around the perimeter...mixed in with velvet tufting, a fabulous antique settee, and of course, a gorgeous pink hued Persian.

Here's my vision of everything minus the racks (tis the only way I can make my board larger)...

I've had that Gloria Swanson painting favourited on Etsy foreeeeeever...love it to the moon...also pretty sure those pink sconces should be mine...damn fiscal correction/not being a billionaire.

If you'd like to know where to find anything else in this space, let me know...I'd be happy to pass on the link...and I promise, aside from the sconces, the rest is totes affordable:)

And do you know what else is SO in budget?

My E-Design services...that's what!

Mama needs a new rug/wallpaper so....I'm offering up my moodboard/design skillz to you my friends...if you're looking for a little help the decor department, shoot me an email {cadovey (at) gmail.com} ...would LOVE to work with you!!!

And speaking of me working/clients etc....remember this...

Well, it's back on folks...more on that tomorrow!!!

Week of Pink - Inspired By...

Very sorry for the late post.

I've had one of those mornings.

It started off with a 3 hour wait at the doctor's office walk in clinic...only to find no apparent explanation for my feeling like total and utter shit for the last 3 weeks- love that...not.

On the flip side...the extremely awesome flip side that is...I finally heard some news about my Nana.

It turns out she does infact have cancer....for PS, the 3rd time...but thankfully, it is very limited to one spot and hasn't spread beyond the tissue...so...it's completely treatable...amazing news.... I'm ecstatic, thrilled, filled with joy about this...words can't express.

In celebration, I'm going to kick it awesome photography styles with a little portfolio fabulous...of course, all that's coming will definitely be in keeping with...

Welcome to the sprarkly pink infused world of Aaron Ruell...

Can you just imagine pink sparkly walls?

I sure can.

And do you  know what else I can envision?

Using these beauties...

...to inspire a little project I'm working on.

Background....

A friend of mine asked me to help with putting the finishing details on her home.

At present, she has a lot of rooms...all painted brown.

She also has dark wood floors and plenty of leather/wood furniture.

So...long story short, she needs some colour.

After seeing the above, I knew one of the rooms just had to have some pinky violet/ pale blue thrown in.

So...here's the living room planski...

Notes:
Mirror for above fireplace...vintage panels for either side of said fireplace...bottom left fabric for curtain panels, zebra rug on the floor, cushions in geometric pale blue/gold and KW bengal bazaare, Ziri chandy for ceiling.

Purty and will totes break up the brown/still play nicely with it.

I've got the whole house to sort out so more plans are a comin.

For now...happy Thursday peeps.

I'm off to clean my house...parents are rolling in for a short visit before heading to PEI, so I've got to throw some neatness together;)

Loves,

xo

An Object Obsession Leads to a Bijou Room

Morning.

Or maybe it's later in the day when you read this.

In any case...hello;)

I wanted to share a little goodie I came across yesterday thanks to the latest issue of Veranda...which PS is fabulous...the cover is verrrrry pretty and looks splendid in my foyer...thanks magazine peeps for thinking of me and putting lots of pink on the front-ha!

Anyhoo...I spied this piece of gorgeousness....

It's a giant 42" square ottoman from Lee Industries and I LOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE it.

If I didn't already have a large tufted ottoman or have to worry about a white upholstered 'table' with 3 kids and a large dog, this would SO be happening in my house.

Only...I'd do this to it...

Yup...I'd gold leaf the shit out of the base, which would make that ottoman tufted sex.

Gorge.

And do you know what else I'd do?

I'd design a glamorous room around it, which would look a little somethin, somethin like this...

Pretty right.

I don't want to give away all my sources but I will tell you the rug is from West Elm and I'm going to get it for my master...eventually.  Also, the artwork is courtesy of the ridonkulously talented Jessica Rae Sommer...her new portfolio is KILLING me.

I'm pretty sure I need the painting above...or maybe this one...

Both...Heaven.

Now, if you perhaps want me to put together a room like the one above for you, please do give me a shout...e-design/styling/personal shopping is happening around here and I'd LOVE to make your space a little more bijou;)

Oh and on a side note, can someone please tell me how the hell I remove backgrounds on Publisher?  Why can I not figure this out? Suckage.

Ta ta for now and don't forget about the little art giveaway happening around these hear parts...you have only until Thursday to enter to win a little 'Store Around the Corner' illustration bliss...

Good luck, happy day and hire me please;)
