Happy Friday MTG peeps,
As it is Friday, we are going to get out to our local gamery shoppe, OMG! Games, here in Barrie, Ontario this evening. They are running a promotion during FNM with a random booster box of a Dragon's Maze each Friday Night Magic event for the month of June, 2013. Also of note, MTG Mint Card has Modern Masters singles available for order as well as Magic 2014 core set pre-orders.

Anywhoos - today we wanted to yatter a bit about some of the most important Magic: the Gathering cards in almost any imaginable format of this, our fav game - Lands. We're interested in talking about this at the moment given all the speculation of Magic 2014 going on at the moment concerning non-basic lands. Gamers will need lands (which represent a 'mana' source) to cast almost every MTG spell out there.
Here's a quick and unpolished summary of the common types of nonbasic lands. We suggest you take some time to drop by the mothersite and give a read to these two very good articles - A Brief History of Tap Lands, by Tom LaPille / and Mana with All the Fixin's by Mark Rosewater.
No colors of mana/no mana:
• Fetch lands - Fetch lands are a cycle of ten rare lands from Onslaught and Zendikar that can be sacrificed along with the payment of one life, to search the controller's library for a single land that has one of two basic land types specified on the card.
One colors of mana:
• Sac lands - These lands can either come into play tapped or untapped, provided a single mana color or could be sacrificed for one or more of the same or different colors.
Two colors of mana - self explanitory
• Dual lands
• Filter lands
• Gates
• Karoo lands
• Pain lands
• Sac lands
• Shock lands
• Slow lands
• Taplands
Three colors of mana:
• Lairs
• Triple lands
