Paintings

I've been sort of under the weather these past few days...I got some mysterious insect bite on my arm last week and have been feeling sort of crap ever since...also I have this cold that won't quite manifest but is shitty enough to make me not want to leave the house.

So...instead of running around like I usually do over the weekend, I stayed put and got my painting on.

I'm pretty excited about this little series that I've been working on and just listed them all in the shop...

...which is PS, getting a new name...mostly because I don't want to limit myself anymore to just pink stuff.

Anyhoo....

The work I finished over the weekend was mostly done on these gessoed hardboard numbers that I've sooooo fallen in love with.

They're ready to hang, so nice and smooth, and the sharp edge means that I can paint them to look like a frame...in any colour.

So, with that, here's a peek at 'Loot Bags'....

Along with these, I also did this pair...

...that has spawned an idea for a while black/white series...stay tuned for that.

And, after a few weeks of working on these canvas guys...

...they got done.

The one on the left is a commission and Mr. Right is for sale in the shop.

It feels real good to be painting again.

I sort of forgot how much I love it.

Clears the brain as it were...much like yoga...sadly, the offshoot of painting has been zero exercise.

Choices, choices... fit non-creative type or fat painter?

Hum....

A Painting and a Rug

You know those days when you have the kids all ready for school just in the nick of time and then right before you walk out the door, you remember its picture day and have to completely re-dress/re-style kids and fill out pose forms to be sent with them...ya...I had one of those:)

And since I'm still a day behind because of the holiday, I'm going to keep this post short and sweet.

I spent a good chunk of the day yesterday painting- when the mood strikes as it were...I finished off a piece I've been working on for a while entitled 'Millicent'...and though I didn't plan anything about how she'd look and where she'd go...

...the minute I hung her in the teenager's room (aka #projectgetroomsreadyforkids) alongside my new INCREDIBLE e-carpet gallery (aka an AH-MAAZING online rug store that ships stunning luxury rugs anywhere in the US and Canada....with PS, no duty/brokerage for us Canucks thanks to a Canadian home base:))))))....

...the stars aligned as it were...

Sooooooo happy.

Now I just need a mattress, some bedding and a few pillows.

A final reveal is coming soon:)))

Ink and Reverie #3- Exterior Decisions, Ideas and Inspirations...and Paintings

I don't know what's up with me lately...I seem to be constantly a day off my bloggy schedule.

This week is no different but thankfully I can blame the Monday holiday for my mis-step.

So, though it's Wednesday and not Tuesday, it's time for...

Today, I'm going to share some of our newest ideas and inspirations for the project...a quick 'I want it to look/feel like this' sort of thing...the architect's side of things can be fetched HERE.

Happily, Wallace (the architect) and I have officially decided on a white stucco exterior.

Though stucco in its traditional greige form scares the living shit pants off of me...mostly due to my neighbourhood's propensity for sort of thing...

...(aka ginormous/ostentatious Versailles wannabes)...I'm all over the white version...it feels very different from the above...crisper...less ornamental...

...but still 'fancy'.

In addition, we've also (thanks to my carpenter dreamboat Allen who can source these from the UK for cheaper styles) nailed down this sort of thing for the upstairs hallway...

[via]

We had originally thought or putting a skylight above the stairwell but have now supersized the idea to span the entire length of the hall...I'm beaucoup excited about this.

Also, we've nailed down the look we want for the windows...

[via]

...which basically centers around some type of replication of old steel factory numbers...but in a modern energy efficient sort of way.

As for what's going around the windows...which is properly termed the 'fenestration' of the building....which PS, I can't say with a straight face for some reason...the word takes my brain to somewhere else...maybe because it rhymes with masturbation...I don't know...it definitely sounds like some kind of raunchy term to me...keeping on that theme, the fenestration of this house needs to be sexy lexy.

We're going for this very clean lined modernism on that front...

[via]

...which means really nada around the windows...straight returns, no frill.

The later will come from the stucco work...

[via]

...balustrades...

(though these make us both nervous because of their potential to visit gody town)

...Corinthian (Wallace taught me all about different types and these are officially my fave) porch columns...

...and ironwork...

Black door, lanterns, tile

And finally, we're hoping to inject a blop of modernism with the garage...because it's going to jet out and is only a single story high, the garage is a bit awkward...instead of fighting its weirdness, we're going to embrace it with a giant unexpected warm (or cold in this case) hug...concrete box styles...

All very exciting....and terrifying...as subconsciously evidenced my dream last night where I listen to my husband tell me how he's lost his job and how we have no money and have to ditch the dreamhouse in favour of a cardboard box;)

To combat the money anxiety/fears, I've been painting like a Busy Betty lately...

['Neve'...soon to be seen in #projectvicarious]

[yet to be named...in progress]

On that note, check my shop for an influx of new items soon...I suspect I'll be doing a LOT of painting these next few months;)

Stay tuned for all of it my friends.
