Paintings

I've been sort of under the weather these past few days...I got some mysterious insect bite on my arm last week and have been feeling sort of crap ever since...also I have this cold that won't quite manifest but is shitty enough to make me not want to leave the house.

So...instead of running around like I usually do over the weekend, I stayed put and got my painting on.

I'm pretty excited about this little series that I've been working on and just listed them all in the shop...

...which is PS, getting a new name...mostly because I don't want to limit myself anymore to just pink stuff.

Anyhoo....

The work I finished over the weekend was mostly done on these gessoed hardboard numbers that I've sooooo fallen in love with.

They're ready to hang, so nice and smooth, and the sharp edge means that I can paint them to look like a frame...in any colour.

So, with that, here's a peek at 'Loot Bags'....

Along with these, I also did this pair...

...that has spawned an idea for a while black/white series...stay tuned for that.

And, after a few weeks of working on these canvas guys...

...they got done.

The one on the left is a commission and Mr. Right is for sale in the shop.

It feels real good to be painting again.

I sort of forgot how much I love it.

Clears the brain as it were...much like yoga...sadly, the offshoot of painting has been zero exercise.

Choices, choices... fit non-creative type or fat painter?

Hum....

A New Sponsor, the Kids, Paintings Make Wallpaper, and a Onesie

I trust you all had a good weekend.

Mine was actually sort of suckage.

I spent all day sourcing on Saturday, and came away with very little of what I wanted...so, back to the drawing board as it were...will be doing a lot of running around shopping this week.

And then there was Sunday...my pregnancy hormones made Remembrance Day celebrations one giant tear fest- I was a mess...and I did literally nothing but lie in bed ALL day...I was feeling great up until this week and am now back to first trimester like exhaustion...hoping it's short lived...hate feeling totally hung over.

Thankfully, I have a pretty OK husband that has been taking over when I'm in zombie mode...he was totes Mr Mom all day yesterday, and had the kids out to the lake...this photo he took of them might have just made my life...

...as did this one of my sweet/precious/adorable/gorgeous nieces Adele and Caroline...

Me. Lucky.

Now...on to the goods of the day.

I'm THRILLED...and I mean THRILLED to introduce you to my newest kick bum sponsor...Jamie Shop...

I'm also VERY excited about a little discovery I made, thanks to the ladies over at 219...PS, do you see a theme developing here? I'm pulling inspiration/stuff from them like EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Anyhoo...have you heard of Mr Perswall?

Well...if not, let me fill you in.

Basically, it's a place that makes your own wallpaper for you.

You can upload images and they'll print them on paper...for your walls.

I experimented a little the other day and came up with some goodness that I just might do in my house- thinking of the basement hallway, or on one wall in #projectsurprise.

And yes...those are my paintings turned into wallpaper.

Fun yes?

Oh and speaking of paintings, there are a few news ones up in the shop...including the last one shown above (Eliza), Ms Althea...

...and lady Zoe...

Buy them up please so I can make some more.

Oh and speaking of additional things...

I added a bunch of newish Instagram photos to 'My House' section of the blog...you can click HERE to see the full tour.

And finally, just to end on a very happy note...I made my first official baby purchase yesterday...My little J (and no, none of you have guessed correctly yet on the name front:) is going to look awfully dapper in this number...

No Lola, No Eggs, No Dairy...Just Paintings and a Cheetah

Good morning friends.

First off, I'm sorry for the little disappearing act last week.

As many of you already know, we had to put out sweet Lola bear to sleep on Thursday and well, after that, I just needed a little sadness time.

I had called the vet on Wednesday, knowing it was time, and that span between the phone call and our appointment the next morning, was absolutely the worst 24 hours of my life...I felt like I was playing god and to watch my dog spend her last day with us, knowing what was coming...well, it was hell...and don't get me started on the agony of trying to explain what was happening to my kids...poor Scarlett was inconsolable and Tasha...well let's just say I've never seen her so sad.

It was hard...really, really donkey ball suckage hard.

:)
{via}

In the end, Lola went very quickly...she was obviously so ready to go and that makes me feel a little more at peace but our house is so damn empty without her...the quiet and lack of chaos, makes for a weird energy and it seems as though most of us just don't know what to do with the silence.

My little Mac said to Scarlett not to be sad because 'in his dream, Lola had no more bumps' and honestly, those words of a 3 year old are helping me buckets.  It makes me endlessly happy to imagine her up there in the clouds, all regal and well like in the picture above.  I just know she's bounding through the fields, eating all the ice cream and steak she can get her paws on...free of bastard cancer.

And as for yours truly, as of today...

Funny Flirting Ecard: I'm NOT crying, I'm having an allergic reaction to feelings.

...god I love these cards.

And speaking of the one above, boy did I find out a little piece of dooziness last week.

I'm sure I've complained about feeling crappy on here before.

Maybe I haven't...my brain is mush at the moment.

The short version is that for years, basically ever since I had Scarlett, my body just hasn't been working right...tired, headachey, nerve pain, mental foginess...I could go on...I've seen a bunch of doctors, had 2 CAT scans, more tests than I can possibly describe and at the end of all of it, have been told it's anxiety and to try and relax...at which point, I look at each doctor and want to chop their effing heads off...if I felt good people, I'd be relaxed.

Fast forward to about a month ago when I decide to try out some acupuncture and see naturopath...after 38 years on this planet and not one single doctor thinking to test me for food allergies, the naturopath orders up some very extensive blood work and on Thursday, I got called in for the results.

So...after YEARS OF FEELING LIKE POOPDOGS and not knowing why, it turns out that I have a severe intolerance to milk and eggs, to the point that I actually have an anahaphalactic allergic to both.

Seriously...what the fuck...how could something so simple be missed for SO long?

I'm pissed.

Also, I'm happy...finally, this bullshit is not just in my head...finally, I can do something about it...unfortunately, this change means I have to give up my absolute fave food group...the thought of life without mayo, ricotta, cheese, butter, yogurt, baked goods...well, it's isn't exactly my happy place BUT the thought of feeling great...well, that is my happy place so onwards and upwards....no milk or eggs for this cat.

Eggs, milk and flower...

I guess that sums up my last few days in a nutshell.

In other news, I did burry the food allergy stuff/dog sadness with some weekend projects.

For one, hubster and I spent an entire day fixing up the yard...did buckets of edging, trimming, weeding, planting and the like...and since the deck project is on hold, I souped it up as best as I could for now...

...still want an outdoor rug for under the table but for now, it's looking pretty OK.

I also painted...hubs surprised me with some belated b-day gifts, since I was away on the actual day...this easel was one of them...

...and with it, I was able to get two pieces done...the one above morphed into this...

...and is now up in the shop.

I also, finished this little lady called Belle...

...she'll be framed in gold and listed later today.

Along with the easel, the Mr also took me antiquing on Saturday and insisted that I bring lady cheetah pants home with me as part of the b-day package...

...know as you know, I already have a LARGE ceramic animal collection so even though I've been looking for one of these spotted beauties forever, I had a moment of reservation about adding to the menagerie but...in the end, I just couldn't resist...didn't hurt that I practically stole her either.

I'll have to edit out some of the other creatures in the living room...perhaps they'll find new homes upstairs but in the meantime, Ms C is looking pretty heavenly in her new spot...

...rawr.

And with that, I'll sign off for now with a big thank you kiss/hug...your FB, Instagram, Twitter messages these past few weeks have helped in so many ways...heart you all.

Friday Fancies - Art to Oufit

Praise Jesus it's Friday...not that it really matters in my neck of the woods...our running joke these days is everyday is a Friday a the Doveys...happy offshoot of unemployment I guess;)

The first one...a farking FABULOUS piece from Ms MFAMB....sweet Jenny sent this to me and it arrived yesterday.

There was a sort of dead wall spot in my kitchen and these monster pretties have filled it in the best possible way...it's totally the meatball to my kitchen spaghetti...see...

...and to match, a little ensemble goodness...

And next, my latest piece for Wink of Pink...Seraphina...

...and her outfit...

Happy almost weekend love lushers.

Art

First off, a big happy 4th of July to my Americano friends.

Holidays are winners.

My hubster's new vacation from employments status means that yours truly can paint her brains out...and so I have.

I finished this little number yesterday....

...in honour of Ms Jessica Rae Sommer.

You many remember that she painted this...

...and well, it slays me...so, we're doing a little art exchange...I get that amazeballs image of myself (sounds weird to say that I love my own image but you know what I  mean)
and she gets my little creation above...so excited.

Next up, a little commission for my lovely friend Wendy...she's just started her own kick ass marketing company and is looking for a little citrus art prettiness to design her website banner around...and...here's what I came up with...

...turns out citrus comes way less naturally for me than straight up pink, gold and black...this puppy took me a LOOOOONNNNGGGG time.

And finally, I've got a few larger paper/framed pieces going up in the shop today.

Ms. Blythe...

...she has sparkles:)

And two 12x18 partners in crime...Anna...

...and Julia...

And with that, I'm breaking from painting for at least the rest of the day...after I clean this all up that is...

...PS, think there's any money to be made in palate photographs?

I'm kind of loving that second shot of my mixing mess.

Later gaitors.
