Theros Block Speculation

~
Happy Monday MTG peeps,

A very interesting post over on the mothersite today - if you've not yet have had a chance to look, click on over.  WotC TJ posted to the Magic Arcana the 'title images' of each of the sets in the current Magic: the Gathering block - Theros, Born of the Gods, and Journey into Nyx.  We have of course seen the Theros art with Elspeth, sun's Champion standing in triumph over a slain hydra and have even seen stylized hints of the other arts on the Hero's Path website but not yet seen them in full - which affords us an opportunity to generate some almost-baseless speculation.  For the Planeswalker Guide to Theros, check out the Magic Creative Team's articles here.  Let's have at it now . . .
~
First up - the title art for Theros.

Nothing new - Elspeth, now on Theros is true to form and fights for the humans inhabiting this plane against the many monsters.  A forge with her and Heliod, god of the Sun now emerges.

~
Second - the next set 'Born of the Gods' with this title art.

We can clearly see that the Planeswalker Xenagos from the previous Theros set has a major role to play.  As Xenagos already has received a card, we should expect cards indicating a theme of his (or his 'faction'?) evolution.  This art suggests that Xenagos has supplanted Purphoros and possibly a bleeding through of Nyx (the realm of the gods) in to the corporeal plan.

~
Third - the title art for the final set 'Journey into Nyx'

From this image, we see the full extent of the corruption of being that was Xenagos.  Super Xenagos, holding his lyre-spear-staff thingy is about to engage in a confrontation with two well-known Planeswalkers - Elspeth and Ajani.  In the background to the left are battle banners of forces but whether this army is marching against or for Xenagos is unknown. Below this final battle are ruins of temples of which Erebos, god of the Underworld suggests has been, like Purphoros, defeated by super Xenagos.

Lastly, a heads up about MTG Mint Card (their banner on the left) who are having some pretty amazing deals, so click on over and check that out.

Personal Blab, Ink & Reverie, Wish List Wendesday and Art

A few things.

1. I feel like I owe you all a little explanation as to why this...

...has been on a little bit of a hiatus.

At first, I had planned on keeping my personal stuff related to this pause as just that, personal but after a week has passed, I feel like I somehow owe you at least some explanation as to why I haven't been talking #projectdreamhouse as of late.

The long and depressingly short of it is that my husband lost his job last week.

It blows...in every possible way.

Mostly because this was the job my husband has been waiting years for and he loved it...he was so so happy and seeing him that way, made me happy.

Because he's literally the most optimistic person on earth, he is taking it all in stride and I'm trying not to let my personal devastation over the ambiguity of what's going to happen with the new house business cloud his sunny outlook.

He swears the new house is still happening and I so want to believe that it is...I'm trying...really, really hard.

For now, we're looking at different options...the most likely one is that we keep renting the existing house on the lot out until things get settled and then make a decision.

I've learned over the years that most times things happen for a reason and one of the potential thoughts on this track is maybe that lot wasn't perfect for us after all...when hubs a new job as he always does (because PS, he's the hardest working amazing sales guy in the universe...PSS, the roller coaster ride that is working in the telecom industry makes me want to blow my head off) we're talking about the possibility of building a 'spec' house on that lot and then selling it, along with our current house so that we can afford a bigger lot that makes more of my dream house possible.

So...there are options but I really have no fucking idea what one will end up happening...or when...or how.

For now, I'm trying not to stress about it and just really attempting to face each day as it comes.

The sun will come out as they say.....

As a silver lining to this whole things, sweet man is at home with us and it's really so so nice to have him here (don't get me wrong- I need his ass back to work but in the meantime, enjoying the help and company) - partly because it's allowed me to focus alot of my own jobs.

2. On that note, I'm SO excited about what's just around the corner for this blog...I'm re-branding folks...in a large way.

Stay tuned because thanks to Erika, things are about to get pretty swank around these parts:))

3. Also, I've been doing tons and tons of design work lately, which is super duper awesome.

4. And because I have more than 5 minutes to rug together with an extra set of baby entertaining hands near by, I've been doing lots and lots of painting.

#projectnordic is about to see this 36x48 lady arrive at her door...

Excited about that one.

Also, a fabulously sweet client named Shannon emailed me a picture of one of my pieces in her home...

...which totally made my day.

5. And speaking of day makers, my Stephanie Vovas photograph arrived and well....

...smitten doesn't really cut it.

OBSESSED.

6. Now...and still on the topic of art...and because it's Wednesday...

Blog Series- Wish List Wednesday

...first, I'd like to add this SV to my collection of one...

If you haven't already guessed, I luuuuuurrrvvvvv her work.

Next, I posted this picture on instagram a few days ago...

...and was inundated with questions about the artist.

I did some research and found this guy...

He's a local Toronto artist and holy Mother tits Therese...LOOK!!!!

NEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDD ONE/ WANT ONE....SO BAD IT HURTS.

An employed husband would help.

Finally, I was reading MFAMB yesterday as I do everyday and was blindsided in the best possible way by Jenny's newest work (which you can buy here...if your husband is employed...or you are etc...but crap, just checked and these are all sold out- no surprise there...lots of other brilliance up for grabs though) ...

depth 22 x 30

void 22 x 30

abyss 22 x 30

pop rocks 22 x 30

I can't even...

These are just too good...almost makes me angry...and frustrated...and jealous.

Mostly they make me sky high though- stunning artwork right there.

And I think that's it for today.

As always, thanks for reading and making it to the bottom of my often long winded posts.

You guys truly light up my life.

Real styles.

MTG Wallpaper Round-Up

~
Happy Friday MTG peeps,

Although we've had a few snowflakes here in Barrie, Ontario over the last week or so, it was a rather quick melt, often in a matter of just a few minutes.  Today, however it appears that the white stuff will finally stick and perhaps stay (picture from our backyard to the right).  The current meteorological conditions may even prompt us to leave a few minutes early to get to OMG! Games for Friday Night Magic tonight.  This minor inconvenience is nothing in comparison to the super Typhon which caused massive devastation across the Philippines.  Our thoughts are not only with the Magic: the Gathering players there but also their communities.  The Phillippine Red Cross now takes PayPal.

Wish List Wednesday- Art and Furniture

Hi friends...my apologies for no post yesterday...I had a really shit 48 hours so just needed a wee break to be honest.

I won't bore you with the details but real life stuff is slamming the door on unicorn dreaming right now...things are definitely not always sunshine and roses as it were.

Anyhow...as always, I know goodness is just around the corner so time to buck up and thanks the gods that all of my loved ones are healthy and really, that's all the fuck that matters.

And on that note, daydreaming about better days means fantasizing about goodness on my wish list and since it's Wednesday, let's go for some...

Blog Series- Wish List Wednesday

...action.

For this week, I'm still totally obsessing over artwork.

Topsies on my one day list are...

...I'm literally in AWE of this image.

2. This loveliness by Skye Parrott...

...wouldn't it be perfect in a master bath against sheets of wall marble...giant size?

3.  And of course, my girl crush on Stephanie Vovas continues/is great (see the other works of hers I want/am getting here)...just discovered this beauty...

..and I lurv her.

Also quite enjoying her boyfriend...

Outside of art...I've got these guys on the list...

4.  All of these amazingly fabulous pieces from recent/ thanks to my 'I coudn't live without her' friend Christine discovery...Brabbu....

The Mursi rug...

I die over it...like dead die.

And this marble table...

...also afterlife worthy.

Oh and their brass plinthed sofa...

...I wouldn't throw it out of bed for crackers either.

5. And then there's this stuff from my newest 'I saw it in real life and can buy it locally + I want EVERY SINGLE PIECE IN THEIR COLLECTION' discovery, Stellar Works...

Barstools for the new house...but mine in black leather...

These incredible chairs...in front of a fireplace...

And THIS...in #projectdreamhouse kitchen across from the fireplace...

I mean have you ever?

The fabric...the shape...it WILL BE MINE- you heard it here first- no way in China this baby isn't going to belong to me...come hell or high water as it were.

As for the rest, I think it's high time I won the lottery...or landed some type of dream design job that paid large buckets of money...or both.

In the meantime/before I strike it rich, stay close to my Instagram feed over the next few days...peeks of my finished laundry area are a coming.

Smoochballs.

Surfing the Web...Emily Henderson...The Fig House..Artwork and If You Want It, Black Rooster It #21

Morning friends.

I'm busy like wizzy today so this is going to be short.

A few things:

1. I'm going with the croc on the chairs...the burgundy tempted me large but when push came to shove, I couldn't pull the trigger.  One thing I've learned over the course of my 39 (cough) years, is that you've got to trust your gut and something about that red derivative business was not agreeing with me...the croc feels more moi so that's what I'm doing.

KW feline or faux bois might happen in pillow form but we'll see.

2. I'm still NOT screwed up the poop shoot when it comes to the mantle and what the heck to do there.

I drafted this post on Friday and then my computer went all cray and I couldn't post it.

On Friday, I had no idea what to put over the fireplace.

On Saturday I was flying around the interwebs while sipping coffee and lazing in bed.

I hopped over to Emily Henderson's Instgram feed, which then led me to her blog (which PS, really is ridiculously full of good stuff,) which led me here...

...which then led me to two hours of sublime art surfing.

If your not familiar with this blog/person, you need to be.

Each post references an artist who the 'curator' is inspired by and/or jealous of...you know that kind of jealous you get when you see a piece of amazing artwork and wish you could have made it yourself?  Well, this blog documents all of that and it's FABULOUS.

I'm seriously very addicted and will be reading it every single solitary day.

So back to my mantle..while I was perusing both TJC and Emily H's blog, I read all about a project they are working on together at a new bespoke event venue in Cali called The Fig House.

Emily designed the space and TJC picked all of the artwork...and if you haven't been following this business online/via Instagram, you need to be...for reasons like this...

...note the gorgeous work of one of my favourite artists in the universe, Zoe Pawlak up there...and the rugs...and the pink/green furniture.

...stop it on those mirrors...and sconces.

...I swear I've never like stained glass in a house EVER...and then EH came up with this- holy shizz...and that sofa...almost makes me re-consider the whole burgundy thing...almost.

And then there's this...

...and then THIS...

...which instantly started a mad and franetic artist search by yours truly.

And with a few little link clicks, I found myself at the portfolio of Stephaie Vovas and whoa....

I proceeded to fall over dead with joy.

I'll take one of...

diorapola5x8SQ.jpg

sinner2sq.jpg

VOVAS_6103SQ.jpg

...each of these please.

And let's start with this beaut...the very same one that's featured over that fabo striped sofa by EH...

IMG_1105stampSQ.jpg

I mean really...it's just SO damn good.

I've said since the day I started earning money that there would come a time when the thing I'd spend dough on would be real art...and folks, that day is here.

My plan is to add 1/2 pieces each year and I'm really, really excited about it.

Art = happiness.

3. Because of my computer woes on Friday, I didn't get a chance to post my...

...loveliness for the week.

So, without any further ado, meet some of the new pretty that one of my absolute favourite stores has to offer...

Those bottom right sconces...yup...my foyer in the new house needs those...also very much want the marble columns...and that mirror.

Also/PS, the louis settee pictured is on a MASSIVE sale- BR has one that she is discounting by like 2/3rds so if you're in the market, let me know and we'll get that baby sent your way.

And...because BR is adding new stuff daily, some of this fabulousity went up after I had put my board together...

1. Leather chairs...

Pictures of Wrinkled Leather Pop Chair

2. Icon chairs...

Pictures of Icon Arm Chair

3. Icelandic goodness like these Sheepskin blankets...

Pictures of Plaid Sheepskin Blanket - Silver/Grey

and rugs ...

Pictures of Sheepskin Carpet - White

All delish.

And with that, I better sign off before this post gets too long form.

Squeezes and smooches and such.
