Thinking About 7 - #9

I've got so many things on my brain right now that a 7 post seemed appropriate...that way I can do a little bit of everything.

1. #projectdreamhouse

I met with our architect yesterday and we've hit a snag...the lot size may mean the house I want isn't possible...I've got to put a call into the zoning peeps today to see what's what.

So many moving parts in this thing...stress-to-the-full.

On a happier note, the inspiration pot is filling up with so many ideas...my newest obsession is a wide center hallway like this oneg by Windsor Smith...

Love everything about it.

In my house, though, the floor would be done in something like this Ann Sacks divinity...

2. #projectwholehouse

The house I'm working on locally got a fabulous kick in the pants this week with the arrival of some visual comfort bliss...

Her sons room also got some custom closet doors, thanks to my contractor/moulding expert, along with a plan for accessories/bedding etc...

We're going for an 'inter-galactic/here on Earth' theme;)

3. #projectdownunder

We've finalized all of our choices and have made a few small changes.
For one, the new dining head chairs will be these BR guys ...

Pictures of Crackled Gold Arm Chair

...and because of a change in layout, I decided to swap out the rectangular coffee table for this piece of HEAVEN from Shop 219...

Carnaby Round Metal Cocktail Table - Please contact us for pricing

...could you die over it?

4. I've sent my #projectdownunder client a mirror for approval and I have to tell you, I think I need this for myself.

Inspired by one of my fave pieces of all time, that PS, I could NEVER afford...

...is this very reasonably priced loveliness...

Love, love.

5. Speaking of mirrors...a recent discovery that has me very hot and bothered is these 'Object Trouve'  guys from Codor Design...

Jabberwocky

Birds of Paradise

Snow Bird

Ariosa

SOLD

Grand Fluyt w/ Hanging Bookcase

I mean really...some of the most beautiful pieces of decor I've ever seen.
Sadly, they're WAY over my budget.

I've been thinking of trying a DIY version...surely there's a way to make something 'inspired by' happen.

6. I've got a new client, which means some new design fun is about to happen and I'm tres excited because this new project hails all the way from...

I'm excited to get my Nordic on;)

7. Ending on a personal/family note...Scarlett showed me her latest art piece this morning, entitled 'princess and the pea by me'....

...kid art is the bestest..

Thinking About 7 - #8

Morning friends.

I've got 7 things today to throw by you...

1.  A huge thanks for all the sweet comments on yesterday's post about my daughter's TV show...in case you missed it, you can now watch the trailer on YouTube...

2.  I saw this on Pinterest this morning...

via

...and it has me fantasizing about the dream home again...adore the chevron floors, ornate architecture and modern finishes...also love that very simply range hood...I talked it over with my contractor the other day and we're moving ahead with a similar one in #projectkitchengorgeous...debating between white (drywall) or marble...

via

My first choice would be the later but it's obviously more expensive and I'm a little worried about matching the existing marble.

In any case, I hope to have this done in the next few weeks so stay tuned;)

3. #projectcottage is in the works.

I'm using this shot...

via

...as inspiration for the kitchen.

I LOVE the idea of a giant antique wood butcher block island...only I'll have mine at table height so that it can also serve as our table...want something large so that it can seat at least 10.

I'm also fond of the blackboard idea in a cottage kitchen and of course, will definitely be doing some open shelves.

Oh and I love the black sink.

4.  You know I love fashion illustrations and as much as I've been trying to 'boy up' my house a bit, I find myself always drawn to girly art.

Discovering the works of Elisa Mazzone has not helped the situation...

In. love/might need that last number.

5.  Speaking of art/things I want...

...one of these guys from artist Liz Toohey-Wiese/Etsy shop Ex Libris...her pieces are fitting right in with my current love of all things textural and fluffy...similarly, I'd LOVE some of this action....

As you can see, I'm All about this sort of thing as of late...which leads me to #6...

6.  Do you think it's possible to have too many Beni Rugs/shags in one house?

I'm still debating rugs for the basement and of course, my number one choice is this  Morrocan Shag from Rugs USA...

I like the idea of something cuddle on the laminate floors...basements are cold and this guy feels like it would instantly warm the space up...the fact that it's currently 50% off doesn't hurt its cause either.

But...I've got a Flokati in the nursery, the West Elm Souk in Scarlett's room, and a Moroccan Beni runner in the foyer...would 4 fluffies be too much?

7.  More important than all of this...praying for the people of Boston and Texas...such a tragic few days.

Thinking About 7 #7 - Inspired By...

I haven't done a 7 in a while and this morning has found me VERY inspired by a number of things to here we go.

1. This photo sealed the deal as far as my plan to move my brass fixture in the living room downstairs over the table and replace it with the Mouille (mine will be  knock off).  I have a medallion (not as fabulous as the one here) as well and the combo just makes me all sorts of giddy.

I have this large urge to masculinate (yes...I made that word up) the living room a bit and a giant praying mantas like light does that in spades me thinks.

Does anyone object to me having the sconces on one floor and ceiling light on another?

Too much of a good thing?

Serge Mouille pendant, Home by Ignacio GarcĂa de Vinuesa

...pretty sure that's impossible when we're talking about Serge.

2. The whole 'toughening up' of the living room idea will continue in #projectgetroomsreadyforkids

I was blog flipping this morning and hoped over to one of my faves, 219.

I discovered MANY things of interest.

a. Sarah's house...she posted about it yesterday....

I mean come on.

The fabulousity of all of this makes me all kinds of crazy.

I adore every single thing and completely want to copy it all.

Starting with these VC Soho Sconces...

SOHO DOUBLE SCONCE

...you don't see them in the rooms above but Sarah just added them to her basement and I'm totally going to steal her idea and put them in mine too- they'll look SO farking good against the moulding and more girly bits.

Love, love, love.

3. Rugs

I'm working on sorting out the rug situation in the basement.

Thinking of two of these West Elm runners for the hallway...

Kasbah Wool Rug - Ivory

And I just came across this beauty from PB teen that would be swell somewhere...

Alternate View

...too bad an 8x10 is $900 bones- too rich for my blood these days.

PS...is it just me or has RugsUSA wrecked your idea of what rugs should cost too?  They're amazing selection and ridiculously good prices make all other rug sources seem totally out to lunch.

Moving on.

4. While browsing Pinterest this morning, I hit upon this amazing store called

Their banner alone was a clue I'd probably love just about everything.

But it's their wallpaper section that is making my heart really go thump thump...get a load of these 12x10 murals...

This guy has already made its way around the interwebs...

...and then there's these...

So coolio right?

I wish I was more into colour these days...I'd be all over these.

And if bambino was a girl, she'd totally be enjoying some of that flower goodness.

5. Speaking of babes...I'm on single digit countdown- holy Dinah.

Please pray to the gods that little dude stays put in the belly until at least Sunday.

That is when floors will be in and furniture will be delivered/moved/put downstairs i.e. out of my living room.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

My family is all due to arrive early next week and I really don't want anyone here in the chaos that is my abode at the moment.

Again, please pray.

Also, since little guy is a dude and I won't be having anymore, I'll be holding on to my most favourite of all time girl name and giving it to this sort of doogle, when the time is right- many years from now that is...

6. So inspired by Jenny's latest work...

Cloud Cover

Kanji

Cirque

No One Was Looking

Man that girl can paint.

Jealous.

7. Excited to spot my Scarlett in a store magazine...

...makes what I'm about to say a little easier to swallow:)

I'm not sure why all the fuss is made about the terrible 2s...we had none of that business BUT 6...wow...quite sure my hair is graying by the second because of Ms Red locks.

She's got some spunk in her, that's for sure;)

For those of you with girls, isn't it scary when you see your hormonal DNA rearing it's ugly head in the form of your offspring?

Yikes.

Let's just say I'm more than a little excited to resume my casual wine habit.
