Theros Fat Pack

We've been collecting Fat Packs from each Magic: the Gathering set for quite some time now.  There are of course several reasons for this - firstly, we get a decent card box to store all our new cardboard awesomeness but we also deeply appreciate the player's guide as well as it contains a solid helping of set flavor / storyline.  Call us old-fashioned but often when we're brewing up some crazy builds, we'll often forgo our tab and have several of the guides open.

Anywhoos - As is our custom, we've dropped over to OMG! Games here in Barrie, Ontario (our fav card shop like evar), and picked up our Theros Fat Pack at approximately five minutes after midnight on the 27th.  There was a HUGE line of other players getting in very early to buy the very latest cards.  Anywhoos - for a suggested reatail price of only $40, you get the following -

Dragons Maze Fat Pack

Today, before your very eyes, were gonna rip open a Dragon's Maze Fat Pack before your very eyes.  This, the latest Magic: the Gathering expansion set was just released this last weekend with a total of 156 cards.  The set contains 70 commons, 40 uncommons, 35 rares, and 11 mythic rares. All ten Ravnica Guilds are represented and as in the original Ravnica block along with their respective mechanics / keywords.  Drop by your local gamery shoppe to dip into this set - check the Wizards Locator for one near you.

For the first time ever here in Dragon's Maze, the basic land slot in booster packs will be filled with a nonbasic land instead. Different rarities will appear; Guildgates, “Shock” lands, and also a new Mythic Rare land.  Here in our 9 boosters, we were able to pick up 2 additional rare lands - very lovely!  Anywhoos, we're off to MTG Mint Card to complete some decksets we want to get for our standard constructed game.

RTR Fat Pack

Happy Sunday MTG peeps,

Here in Canada-Land, it is the Thanksgiving long weekend, a time-honoured tradition of gathering of family, eating of feathered beast and enjoying new cardboard from the fall's Magic: the Gathering expansion set.  Also as is tradition here at MTG Realm, we headed over to OMG! Games in Barrie, Ontario and at midnight (Thursday), battled crowds, and picked up a Fat Pack.  We can report that Return to Ravnica was a home run for gamers everywhere and our local store where we go sold out (about 80+ booster boxes) in less than 12 hours.

M13 Fat Pack

Happy Friday MTG peeps,

Happy Friday indeed - it is the Magic 2013 core set release today.  This means my pre-ordered cards from MTG Mint Card is already shooting toward by postal / zip code and should be in hand very shortly.  Also, as is our custom here at MTG Realm, we swung by OMG! Games the local gaming shop here in Barrie, Ontario at midnight last night / this morning and picked ourselves up a Fat Pack.

We assume you saw the weirdness - the foil Hellion Crucible in the same pack as the regular one.

We're pleased as pie to have scored 2 Rancor as well.  With the older ones we have, we are set to pimp a black / green infect deck tonight at FNM.

Speaking of FNM, the official M13 Release / Launch is this Friday 13th.  We'll be headed down to OMG! Avacyn Restored Fat Pack

Happy Monday MTG peeps,

As is our custom here at MTG Realm, with every new Magic the Gathering set release, we head down to our local store, OMG! Games, here in Barrie, Ontario, and pick-up a Fat Pack.  Thursday at midnight we did just that and battled a small crowd at the store and picked up an Avacyn Restored Fat Pack for video dissection.  We've seen a fade of product 'unboxing' videos on YouTube and want to make it clear we don't want to be like that fromage.

Some very lovely Avacyn Restores spoilers out today - essentially the entire line-up of products which of course, being fans of the game we will want to spend some time carefully reviewing the art on all the packaging and start speculation as to what this next Magic the Gathering set may have for us.  Stay tuned for the next few posts as well provide a post for . . .

 Here's the essential 4.1.1. for the set - Avacyn Restored is the third set in the Innistrad block, being released May 4, 2012. It is the fifty-eighth expansion for Magic. Prerelease Events will take place April 28-29, 2012 and Launch Parties will take place May 4-6, 2012. Game Day will be on May 25-26, 2012. This set contains 244 cards.  Make sure you speak with your local Games Store to reserve or pre-order what you want.  Personally, we already have our orders in to OMG! Games here in Central Ontario and would buy it right now if we had a time machine.

Anwyhoos - Let's have a look at the Event Decks and Fat Packs . .
Event Decks offer a competitive 60 card deck with a 15 card sideboard, a Spindown life counter and strategy guide.  These decks are perfect for use in Standard play tournaments like Friday Night Magic or Game Day celebrations.  The Event decks look to be mono-black (featuring a zombie art?) called 'Death's Encroach', and Blue / White (featuring a Cleric / Cathar ?) called 'Humanity's Vengeance'.

Each Avacyn Restored Fat Pack contains 9 Avacyn Restored booster packs, The Avacyn Restored Player's Guide, 1 learn-to-play insert, 1 pack of 40 Avacyn Restored basic land, 2 deck boxes, and 1 Avacyn Restored Life Counter.
