Avacyn Restored Helvault Promo

Happy Wednesday MTG peeps,

We know we've yattered about the Avacyn Restored prerelease 'Helvault' to no end (here and here), but wanted to remind you that if you were thinking about attending the Avacyn Restored prerelease event, check with your store to see if they will pre-register you as there is a limited number of those Helvaults available and lists may be filling up quickly.  Here's what these things look like in real life . . .

The Helvault is a piece of Innistrad's moon that serves as a prision for the nefarious denizens of Innistrad.  Through the trickery of the demon Griselbrand, Avacyn is also trapped in the Helvault.  During the Avacyn Restored Prerelease event, players will work to open the Helvault, releaseing Avacyn and saving Innistrad.  Players break the seals that are holding the Helvault closed by completing the achievement cards provided by the tournament organiser.  When the last seal is broken, the Helvault is opened.

OMG! Games & Collectibles is hosting a number of Avacyn Restored Prerelease event.  Entry fee is $35 - you get SIX Avacyn Restored boosters in which to construct a 40-card deck, a foil prerelease promo card, and a shot at winning prizes.  Start times are as follows:

Saturday 28th April :
Midnight / 10:00 AM / 2:30 PM (Helvault release) / 7:00 PM

Sunday 29th April :
11:00 AM (Helvault release) / 4:00 PM (2-Headed Giant format)

About That Helvault

Hello again MTG peeps,

It's the second post for the day (again) - thanks Wizards, but we would like some semblance of a social life during the spoiler 'season'.  Anywhoos - no Avacyn Restored spoilers 'n' previews for this post, but something we caught on the WPN website - a video developed for WPN stores who are organising an Avacyn Restored pre-release event featuring one of those fancy Helvaults.  Pretty much every player we've yattered to is itching to dissect this cardboard container during the event - we will be heading off to our local gamery store - OMG! Games & Collectibles, here in Barrie, Ontario and will provide video for those who are stuck in juvy hall / work shift / whatever.

 Yep - that was cool Scott - especially the part where it was all Vincent Vega with that Pulp Fiction briefcase - you're not fooling us - there's no promos in the Helvault - it's MaRo's soul.

Avacyn Restored Helvault

Happy Friday MTG peeps,

You may recall from our previous post (linky HERE) of the interesting Magic the Gathering Avacyn Restored prerelease promotion. Specifically, we're talking about the Helvault Prerelease Kit. This kit is still a super-secret but we do know that gamers attending the Prerelease event (April 28-29, 2012) at select / limited number of stores will have on hand the regular prerelease kit (24 participation promo cards - 'Moonsilver Spear', and 18 achievement cards). In addition to this, the store (may) have one 'Helvault' filled with bonus Avacyn Restored prizes 'n' swag to support up to 54 players.

From WOTC communications to organisers, players are to slowly unlock the Helvault throughout the Prerelease. What's inside then ? That is the big mystery. Supposedly, there are three types of items and with 54 players, the organiser will be able to give each of participant 1 of 'item A', 2 of 'item B', and 1 of 'item C' or a similar equitable arrangement depending upon the number of prerelease participants.

Some rumours to date -

• Once you break open the Helvault you will release real-life Demons exorcised from the WoTC office building.

• The Helvault contains a piñata of edible prizes - mostly sugar-free candy.

• A hive of aggravated Africanized honey bees.

• A large number of difficult to remove and slightly toxic 'temporary' tattoos.

• Random items collected throughout 'The Pit' (WoTC MTG card desgin lair).

• Documents containing definitive proof of Leprechauns, Sasquatch, and the fake Moon landing.

If you are heading out to Friday Night Magic tonight and happen to find yourself at OMG! Games and Collectibles in Barrie, Ontario, we suggest you bring along Slagstorm, Marrow Shards, or Elesh Norn (G.C.) in your sideboard becuase we're playing tokens again.
