An Instagram Reveal of the Basement #projectgetroomsreadyforkids

I have to make this quick...these dudes are coming to do a little filming of my basement today...

...and I still have a bucket list of little finicky things to finish before the cameras arrive.

Before that though, here's the latest on what's been done a la the basement.

1. Flowers and my antique mirror got added...

2. My new Stone Textile Pillow came and needed just the right home so I moved the Platner chair that used to live upstairs down and they're so happy together...

3. I shopped my house for artwork to hang downstairs and love how this old antique oil farm scene works alongside the very simple modern sconces...

4. We hung the TV...now note, the guy at the store promised me me that the frame was brushed/matte black and well, it's not so will likely be exchanged...

5.  My blue velvet pillow from Studio Tullia arrived...

...and I love love it.

(curtains are handpainted silk from Pillotopia . chevron pillows are from CC Deux Vie]

6. I added some blooms in bedroom...

...because no room would be finished without them.

7. The laundry room got styled...

...and you know me...no space feels done unless there's some type of bust/porcelain animal in it;)

So...

After introducing this project way back in February and with this horrow show 'before' situationHome Depot came to the rescue by supplying and installing (National Installations) all the tile (3x6 white subway for the laundry and bathroom walls from Daltile Corporation and marble mosaic for the bathroom floor by Anatolia Tile) and laminate flooring (from Beaulieu Canada...underlayment from PXL Cross Linked Foam) for the project.  This space literally would NEVER HAVE HAPPENED without them and I am forever grateful.

And speaking of grateful, I also have to give a ginormous shout out to my amazingly talented architect, wjb designs, for giving the bones of this space a new life.

Of course, my carpenter Allen had a HUGE part in this whole thing too- literally couldn't have any project work/come to fruition without him...same goes for my painter Peter...love them both to the moon and back.

So with all of that, #projectgetroomsreadyforkids has been re-born and is now officially DONE!

I/we couldn't be happier with it and now that all is finito, the actual living in it begins...right after some photoshoots happen that is;)

Stay tuned for a non-Instagrammed version of the reveal soon!

Etsy Extraordinary and Steven and Chris

I must tell you that as we speak, I'm enjoying my first cup of coffee in 8 days and wow...soooooo stinking good.

I'm getting better folks...slowly but surely.

Of course, one thing improving means that something else has to happen...just to keep things interesting.

I was at the hospital yesterday for my glucose check/ultrasound- all's good with baby...he's huge...5.7 pounds already and I still have 6 weeks to go- my legs are crossing as we speak.

However, my blood pressure is up a bit and I had to stay for some lab work just to make sure I wasn't developing pre-eclampsia...so far, so good but now I'm worried about that...pregnancy and my hypochondriac tendencies aren't always a good mix.

The joys:)

Thankfully, I'm feeling well enough to start thinking about the nursery again.

I hope you're not getting sick of baby stuff...it's just obviously where my brain is at these days.

For those of you in Canada, you might have had a sneak peek at my nursery plans yesterday on Steven and Chris...for those of you in the US, here's the snap shots...

I'll tell you that most of what you see above is happening...the rocker, pouf, dresser, mushrooms, gold elephant, sheep and cable pillow/throw are already in there.

Some of the other stuff, will also be purchased.

But...some things will definitely be different.

For one, the doll on the settee...I'm obsessed with it but sadly, that bad lady will set you back $275 so, I of course have been on the Etsy mad hunt.

My search has uncovered a bevie of the cutest kid stuff...seriously...what was life before Etsy.

I've decided to run a little mini-series every Friday called...

...and for today, I'm going to show you my absolute favourite rag dolls sites...I'm not sure why, but I've developed a hard love for hand made dolls/teddies...like I kind of want one for myself...anyhoo...the shops....

Prepare yourself...look at these dolls!

This shop has long been a favourite of mine.

I've bought these sock dolls for every one of my babies/neices and of course, one has already been ordered for bubs...love that they can be personalized with your little one's name...

Baby, Baby, Baby Nursery - Jen of Rambling Renovators

Helllooooooo.

Oh how I've missed you all.

First off, I have to thank you all for all the well wishes...I think I'm on the mend...slowly but surely.

The whole Bronchitis thing is still driving me insane mind you...the endless wheezing that makes me sound like a 95 year old and the sheer exhaustion of it all- soooo not fun.

I've discovered that even though I would normally tell you I love being bored...having to stay in my room isolated from the family for a week...total donkey balls.

OVER IT.

Anyhoo...one day at a time right:)

On to the positive thinking/get me in a good mood stuff...

It's....

...time.

And today I'm happy as pie to introduce the fabulously talented Jen from...

Now let me just say that for those of you who may not know Jen, you are very much missing out on one of the most supportive/helpful/knowledgeable/sweetest people EVER.

I have bounced probably a thousand ideas off of her and she's always just so inspiring to me...full of ideas that I'm annoyed my brain couldn't come up with on its own.

Jennifer is smart, smart, smart and on top of it, VERY good in the whole blogging/design department...she's totally one of those people who seem to have been lucky enough to get a very solid left and right brain...and she deserves it.

I knew who nursery design would kill me softly and well, I was right...

.......

It's just sooooo damn fabulous.

I'm obsessed with the old school masculinity of it all.

The palate is perfection and the mix of modern and vintage is completely/totally up my baby alley.

I actually think I might use this board as inspiration for my hubster's office, if such a room should ever happen...he's a sailor and well, would LOVE this whole thing.

100% my style this one is...adore a lot.

And speaking of things I love, today is Steven & Chris time again for me and since we're on baby talk time, my segment will basically reveal what Baby J's nursery is going to look like...so if you're in Canada and have some free time around 2pm EST, watch away:)

As for me, I'm venturing out for the first time in a week this morning to visit the  'sugar ladies' as my OB likes to call then...it's my 3 week diabetes check...I haven't been  monitoring my sugar or blood since this whole plague thing set in so it should be interesting...there's an ultrasound involved so you know I'm excited about that...slightly worried about standing up for an hour but crossing fingers my body cooperates.

Good day friends:)

#projectbaby, Steven and Chris and Rugs USA

Welcome to the new week.

I've got a lot to share so let's get down to buznus.

1. Big personal news...my husband has officially landed his dream job...

Hallelujah!

Halla-farkin-lujah!

I don't mean to simplify things but let's just say that said new job means that this lady can resume buying some good shit up.

And by that, I mean that #projectbaby can officially get underway.

Wallpaper can happen...and so will giant sheep...

...pretty bedding...

...curtain panels...

...and hopefully, some furry mushrooms...

...oh and some great art too...

Woot.

As you can probably tell from these peeks, my plan for #projectbaby has taken a radical turn towards the more neutral and serene...it seems as though my desire for white and creamy neutrals has officially taken hold.

Surprising.

Happily, the amazing folks at Rugs USA...

...helped my new 'mood' out and elevated it to new ecstatic levels when they sent me the INCREDIBLE Flokati rug you had peeks of above...

It really is SO gorgeous...fluffy, HUGE (8x10), so so soft and perfect for a baby's room- little knees and tummies are going to luuuurv it.

A ginormous/mushy wet kiss to Rugs USA for gifting this beauty to me.

If you aren't yet obsessed with their website and amazing rugs, then you're very silly.

Rugs USA has a ridiculously good selection and their prices, CRAZY TOWN good...I think there's literally ALWAYS a sale happening.

I've already used their rugs for #projectlitttlemiss and #projectvicarious and totes plan on more.

Oh and they ship to Canada, which right there means I heart them greatly.

Check out their fabboats selection of rugalia on their website.

Oh and ::whipsers:: my Flokati fabulous will be making a little TV appearance soon.

Without giving all my secrets away,  I can tell you that a version of #projectbaby will be airing on the Steven and Chris Show very soon - I'll be taping my idea of a dream 'high/low' nursery this Thursday and it will include much of the goodness you see above.

I'll keep you posted on air time.

And because I seriously am busier than I've perhaps ever been in my life...in a sort of a ridiculous 8 months pregnant sort of way...I actually missed my last
Steven and Chris segment that aired this past Friday
 (Jan. 11th)...

Thankfully, modern technology means I was able to watch it online, which also dictates that you can too...if you want...and if you live in Canada.

So, if you're dying to hear all about my thoughts on where and how to use wallpaper, you can:

1. watch the segment on the CBC website....episode 55.

A glimpse of what transpired...

It was fun like rain dancing.

2. Read my tips on how to incorporate wallpaper in your home...

For the Love of Wallpaper

...on the Steven and Chris website.

And with that, I'll say toodles for now.

Check back tomorrow for #projectvicarious and #projectalreadyfabulous updates.

Some changes be happenin.
