Weekend and Randomness

So it was a long weekend here...but not for me...hubs is away AGAIN on business and poor guy had to go here...

The teenager is also really hard done by and has found herself here...

And me...I'm home...going no where fast.

Arg.

Thankfully, we did enjoy a lovely 2 days in gorgeous weather before everyone left.

As per the regular 'spring time with kids family schedule' we went to a local farm for some fun...the kids climbed on hay bales, went down tube slides, ran through corn mazes and rode horses...

It was fun...always is.

On Sunday, I took the kids on an early morning walk...in our jammies...which they loved...it somehow magically transformed an ordinary jaunt into an adventure in their cute little heads...

...as stop at Starbucks was of course necessary to give me a reason to be up and about with 3 kids at 7am;)

The fam jam and I also did some work around the house....our beautiful tree in the front has been blooming its ass off...

...and I managed to cut some branches for the indoors...

...prettiness.

And as for yesterday, I said bye to the man and large kid (insert sad/more than slightly jealous face) and went for another walk with the kids...

...and then joined our fabulous neighbours (@designinghollie) for a BBQ at their house....they were kind enough to take pity on me for being on my own and let me crash their family fun time...love them.

What else...

...on another 'not so happy/jealous of my travelling family' note, Jasper seemed to spend the weekend deciding that sleeping most of the day is sooooo April 2013...aka...he appears to be over that fun...thankfully, when he wakes up looking like this...

...it's hard to be too upset;)

On the other hand, I've been trying for days to get these shelves sorted {note that our white quartz is now on:}...

...and still don't know if I want to keep them or not.

I also didn't have time to paint the bathroom sconces {I've decided I'd like them mat black to tie in the shower door}...

So....cuteness aside, a little more napping would be swell...especially since I'm in single mom mode...I've got a seemingly never-ending list of shizzle I'd like to get done while there are a few less peeps in the house so please send over some 'baby...you know you want to have some long long naps' good thoughts my way:)

And while you are at it, please also pray that the N'espresso gods get my order here soon...it was supposed to arrive Saturday but there was a hiccup and I'm still coffee-less...I'm started to feel more than a little desperate for some Arpeggio action.

Weekend Finds and a Change of Plans

Hello friends.

I hope you all had a bueno weekend.

Mine was busy but swell...mostly because I did a lot of sourcing/shopping and well...some REAL goodies were landed upon.

First, after hitting one of my favourite local antique haunts and taking a few pictures of vanity options for my Little Miss client, I turned the corner on my way out and spied some gold and pink hiding from behind a bed frame...upon closer inspection, this piece of total Bijou heaven was unveiled...

...and my knees proceeded to buckle.

It literally is the prettiest piece of furniture I've ever laid eyes on...and the best part, it's a kid-height wardrobe full of shelves on one side and an open section on the other...perfection for my Scarlett's new room since it's technically not a bedroom and has no closet...this thing HAS to be mine...seriously.

Now...since I have no option but to purchase this...really, I can't not...some of my other plans have to change.

For one, Orangie is out...I just can't do two budget benders in one room so, I spent the weekend looking for alternatives.

After showing the 6 year old endless options the only one she admitted to liking as much as fair Orangie, turns out to be one of my long time faves...

...Petal Pusher.

I'm happy with the choice, though I was really trying to sell her on this Flavor Paper...

You win some you loose some...the gold works better with all the pink furniture anyway so it's all good.

So...Now...this wallpaper change sort of makes my original multi-coloured/eclectic dressing room idea fly out the window.

Instead, I'm going to make the place more in keeping with the rest of the house...aka...pink, gold and black.

This is the new plan...

It involves:

1. Petal Pusher on the walls
2. White silk curtains with black ball fringe
3. Her existing bed, which in my perfect world I'd change but so it goes
4. The IKEA malm console that I re-did for the One of a Kind Show...it will go at the foot of her bed...this glorious pink moire chair...

...will sit behind it...and PS, that chair is going to be mine thanks to the amazing new store that the fabulously talented ladies over at 219 are opening...if you haven't checked out their preview of what's to come, you are missing out my friends and must get on it immediately...SO MUCH GOODNESS!!!!
5. The wardrobe bliss will go on the one full height wall beside the door
6. Two new modern/acrylic side tables...have to find these for next to nothing so if anyone has any ideas on that front, I'm all ears
7. The pair of figural lamps I bought last year will stay...LOVE them
8. I just stumbled upon this pink sofa heaven on Craigslist...

...and you'll be mad if I tell you how cheap it is so I won't...hopefully the dude emails me back quickly and tells me it's still for available- cross fingers please
9. A vintage Moroccan wedding blanket...though I really want one of these for my own room so we'll see
10. A Venini chandelier because every room needs one
11. A few open gold dressing racks
12. The West Elm Souk rug that I've been wanting forever...well, S gets it and we brought it home yesterday since there was a 15% of sale happening...

...and PS, if you're considering this rug for your very own, let me just tell you that it's even better in person...so fluffy and soft...love, love, love.

So that's it for that.

I'm hoping to have the room done within the next month so stay tuned...I promise after pictures:)

Moving on.

As part of my Little Miss sourcing, I ventured downtown to my favourite chandelier guy and found quite a few great options for her room...pictures of those finds will be coming on Wednesday when I update the project...for now, I'll show you the piece I found for myself...hello flush mount gorgeous that will be absolutely perfect in my foyer...

It totally reminds me of my dream flusher, the Trillion, only it's vintage (aka one of a kind) and WAY cheaper...win.

There's honestly nothing I love more than finding gems like the ones I discovered this weekend...I'd give my limbs to own a real store and do this sort of thing for a living...and make millions at it.

Oh the fun I'd have....

Weekend, News and a Bijou Board

Good day everyone.

I trust you enjoyed a beuno long weekend.

Mine was swell...we took the big kid to university, which was both joyous and poopsticks all at the same time...

...the red head was particularly not pleased with her sister's new living arrangements...

...the little one threw me over the edge on the way home when she said...and I quote..."Mommy, first Lola and now Tasha...our family is falling apart".

SAD MOMMY FACE.

Anyhoo...we got the big girl all settled in to her new room and I couldn't be prouder of her...the house is feeling mighty empty without her though:(

Aside from the move in, I spent the rest of the weekend on my DIY project and I have to say, it turned out exactly as I had envisioned..here's a little peakski of what I got up to...

...the bad news is that I put the finished number in my foyer to take pictures of it and well, it's sort of meant for the spot under my desk...I very much wish I could keep the damn thing...feeling like I might now be on a search for something I can make into its twin....will keep you posted on that front and promise shots of this little lady in a few weeks.

And now, I thought I'd share my big news.

You might have noticed that I've been visiting you all a little less these past few months...well, there's a reason...I've been sick...but not bad sick...

This sort of sick...

...yuppers....a new little love bug will be joining our family in March and we couldn't be happier:))))))))

I'm 3 months along now and starting to feel more like myself but 'tis been a haaaard few months.

You might remember that I took some time off at about this time last year...well the reason for that was a miscarriage...it was devastating and awful and something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy...we got through it though and knew we desperately wanted another baby so after a few months, we started trying again....the very crappy thing about miscarriage is that it sort of ruins the naive joy that comes with early pregnancy...I've been a nervous wreck this time around...and...well, it hasn't been easy.

We found about at about 7 weeks that I was actually carrying twins...probably the reason why I'd literally been in bed most of the day for weeks on end...of course, this sort of news came as a total shock but felt like such an incredible gift...sadly, a week later we found out that Baby B didn't make it...I've since learned that this is really common...apparently, 1 in 8 people walking around actually started out as a twin...crazy beans.

So...we're here now and happily pregnant with one sweet baby...and thankfully, I'm starting to feel more like myself...the total exhaustion is beginning to subside and my desire to do anything but sleep is returning...this is PS, the reason why Wink of Pink has sort of been at a standstill...the smell of paint has been more than a little disgusting up until now so I promise I'll rev stuff back into high gear soon.

So...that's the news.

Happy, happy, happy.

It seems as though our crappy stretch is taking a turn for the better...we had more great news this past week...hubster GOT A JOB!!!

Aside from the obvious perks like health insurance and paid bills etc...this most importantly means that...

Project Nursery can roll into gear:)

Scarlett's moving into the big room over the garage and her old room will be for bambino.

If it's a girl...which I sort of feel like it is...this will happen...

...I can't WAIT to get started.

And hope you'll all follow along as I nag you with baby decorating questions:)

Thank you all in the meantime for still visiting these past few months despite my total lack of blogging support...I cross my heart that that I'll be popping by to catch up on all that I've missed.

Love you cyber buddies.

Weekend

Good morning friends.

I trust you all had a good weekend.

Mine was swell.

I spent Saturday at the opening party for the little designer consignment sale I'm taking part in...we had a 'mingle with mimosas' and it was beaucoup fun.

Lots of stuff got sold, which was grande.

Of course, there's still tons of pretty left so if you're a local yocal, please do come by any day of the week (minus Sunday) from 10-6.

You'll see things like this...

New goodies are being brought in everyday so yes, come shop...this mamma needs new hair and I'm counting on sale proceeds to get it so...help a girl out/get your shop on please;)

A big hug and kiss to Tim, Lindsey, Sarah, Leigh Ann, and Jenn for popping by- aren't supportive friends the bom diggity do?

Love them.

And do you know who else I heart?

My hubster.

I realized this weekend that I take his awesomeness for granted a large chunk of the time.

He's the guy that lets my paint walls pink and doesn't make much of a face when I buy yet another ceramic or brass animal.

He's...

egg

...as further evidenced by the fact that he suggested spending the day antiquing on Sunday.

Bless him.

So that's what we did.

I saw lots of yumminess...

...and loved every minute of the outdoor family time...

...and died mostly over the garden pavillion above- wanted like EVERYTHING Joe antique outdoor guy was selling.

I also had a very, very, very hard time leaving this jumbotron peacock chair behind...

...$60 bones...pink/white striped cushion...huge...sigh...just couldn't think where the heck I could put it.

Boo.  hiss.

I actually left with zero, zilch, nothing.

Sad face.

On the flip side of no purchase crapness, our drive home was rather interesting.

We eneded up going through some pretty spectacular open houses out in the country.

Let me tell you...I seriously debated/am debating the merits of moving out a bit to get an incredible home...these 'estates' I saw were all the business... Belgian scraped floors, marble everywhere, 12 foot ceilings...brilliant.

Trouble is, I came home to this...

...and realized I'd have a VERY hard time ever leaving my little house.

It's not huge or perfect by any stretch but...it's home...5000 sq. masterpiece be damned:)

The other bonus is that I have the best neighbours ever.

Spent last night on that porch with drinks and friends...can't get much better than that.

Hope you had a sunny few days too.

Later alligators.

My Weekend in 16 Photos

Hello friends.

I trust you all had a good long weekend...ate lots of chocolate...enjoyed fam ham time...worshipped- the bunny or god as the case may be;)

My weekend was quite swell.

Friday was spent spring cleaning...it was big garbage day in my hood- you know the one where you can supposedly put out whatever you want, and between recycling, compost, garbage pick-up, and the picker frenzy, all should be taken.

Hubster and I spent the whole day cleaning out the garage.

After single handedly breaking down about 100 cardboard boxes, I came to the startling realization that I do WAY too much online shopping- wow...I admittedly might have a bit of a problem...so many boxes.

Anyhoo...after an entire day...this is what our junk pile looked like...

And much to my chagrin, after insisting they would be taken, come Saturday morning, my carefully stacked cardboard was still sitting there:(

I hate when my husband is right.

A trip to the dump later and my curb was finally clear...and my garage...there's at least space to walk around it...a definite improvement but there's still a very loooooong way to go.

More on that later....whispers...a carpentry project is happening to Casa Bijou...it might involve some much needed storage and perhaps a back deck overhaul...woot.

Back to Friday.

Along with the cleaning, we also did yard work....we were busy productive bees.

Mulch was distributed everywhere and hydrangeas for my porch were planted...

And that was pretty much Friday.

On Saturday, I had tons of shopping to do in anticipation of Easter fun.

We also very much enjoyed a visit from my daddio.

The kids loved that he brought gifts...

...they also liked it when he helped with Easter baking and crafting...

PS...the egg shot illustrates our sad attempt to replicate the Fabulous K pink/gold egg gorgeousity I posted about last week...the project was WAY harder than I anticipated...our finished product is definitely the ghetto version- kids had fun though;)

And that was Saturday.

As for the main squeeze holiday...we started with an egg hunt on the mainfloor {backyard is also my pooches potty so we never do outside hunts}...

I call this one Sculptural Egg Boob;)

We also did a scavenger hunt for the kids this year.

Was the first time and it was beaucoup fun.

The kids had 10 clues and finally found their bunny gifts.

Big daughter got cash.

Red got flying ponies...

...and Mac got the Cars spy train he's wanted forever...

...seeing him see that train for the first time, was kind of heaven...he just kept yelling 'yaaaaaah' over and over...so cute.

Hubster was sweet and got me these...

Preeeeeety.

The fam and I then had an Easter fashion show courtesy of the 5 year old- she set it all up the night before...

How precious is that?

And then, we all headed out for a little Easter brunch and some antiquing.

I realised that my daughter is my mini-me as soon as she insisted on something ceramic as her $5 antique.  I always get let them pick out a little old goodie when we go on these hunts...they have a 5 bone limit and watching them seek out their favourite thing is so so cute...I'm grooming them to love antiquing as much as I do;}

Just look at her face when she spotted this ceramic dog...

...see the joy?

I had the same feeling when I saw these poodle beauts...

...but had to leave them behind because they came as a package deal with some weird cartoon giant version...annoying.

I did, however, come home with this gold dish loveliness...

...which I intended as the first item for my soon to be store but well...I think I might need to keep it.

I'm thinking that might be a common theme.

I left these Givency vintage glasses behind....

...only because teenager and husband giggled when I put them on.

What do they know?

Pretty sure I'm going back for them.

Mac ended up with a red car and my daughter proved again that she's a girl after my own heart when she selected a pink floral vase as her treasure...

And that my friends was my weekend in 16 Instagram photos.

If you made it all the way to the bottom of this long post, high fives and kisses.
